In June I had a visit from a longtime Chess Suite user. We discussed a lot existing features and he kept reminding me to finally document the useful little extras. Of course, there is no excuse for not having done so long ago. But I stil hope of being able to present everything in some video clips. So once again: If you want to help me with a video, please let me know! However, this month I'll start here the written instructions, first by explaining a few of my favorite settings.

Some useful general settings are found in the start dialog.

I frequently use the Games Clipboard  and I always attach it to a to a general or a special PGN file depending on what I am doing.

In the menu Minimize I usually set Minimize always. This automatically minimizes the start dialog when another window is opened. Even more: If the last open window is closed, the start dialog is automatically maximized again.

Since the Chess Suite works with mass data everywhere, it is quite common, at least in my practice, that I can finish a task only in several sessions. And if this task requires several open windows, e.g. a PGN File Viewer or a Bulk Result Viewer, resp. and also a Game Browser and maybe even an additional Setalyser, then it is very convenient if all these windows are opened in their old place on the screen. Therefore I use the Remember location on screen option in the Settings menu of these dialogs.

Here you see the Settings menu of the Game Browser.

As you can see, the Remember number of variations option is also set. This also preserves the number of engine variants across a single session.

The Always on top of the screen option is a bit different. It only applies to the current session. If set, you can expect the window to remain visible at all times and not be covered by other windows. However, what exactly happens if the option is set by several windows (including those of other applications, e.g. the youtube's mini-player) depends on the operating system.

The three options discussed so far are also available for the Setalyser.

The Game Browser has a few other options as you can see. I hope they are mostly self-explanatory. Your selection is always saved and applied the next time you start a Game Browser.

The Set text creation type menu is part of the next release.

If you have an idea for a useful option, please let me know.
