On October 4, 2023, John Hartmann tweeted:
"We note en passants in the Chess Life notation, but Chessbase doesn't allow for us to search specifically for them - a problem when editing. Thanks to @DrThomasNiessen for creating a specialized version of his Chess Suite to allow me to search for them in pgns! @USChess"
John is editor of Chess Life /Chess Life Kids and a few days before he had asked whether the Chess Suite can search for en passant captures in PGN files. As some of you might know, this is one of the search options of the PGN file browser. So, why a specialized version? Well, in fact he got a stand-alone tool that selects all games with en passant captures and marks these captures. I assumed that was more in line with his needs.
The tool is mainly based on the chesspresso library and contains only very small parts of the Chess Suite's code.
In general, I can say that it is always a pleasure for me to help in such a way. Therefore, do not hesitate to ask about functions or suggest new features.
